This site was created in response to the need to have a centralized repository of up to date facts, research, and treatments for opiate addiction.  It is estimated that up to %PERCENTOFPOPULATION% is dependent on some sort of opiate.

Substance abuse is a major health concern in the United States, with annual treatment costs in the billions of dollars.  It also manifests in family problems, lost productivity, and crime.  Heroin, an opiate drug, has been viewed as a key player in this rapidly growing drug-dependent segment of society.  While the number of heroin dependents is increasing, a previously unrecognized opiate dependency is moving to the forefront – prescription painkillers.

A lot of people become dependent after taking them for legitimate pain.  Some users may not be aware that what they have been taking was addictive.  Others might have started using them “just before work” to help them get through the day, and quickly have their intake spiral out of control.  Others may have thought they could just use them occasionally for a nice high.  The fact of the matter is, nearly anyone can become dependent on opiates.  Our mission is simple:  we want to create a community where users can feel free to share their experiences, their treatments, and their successes (and failures) without judgement.

While providing a supportive community for users, we will also work to keep you up to date on the latest research, treatments, and breakthroughs in opiate addiction and pain management.

To get you started, please have a look at a few of our articles.  If you have something to share, please do not hesitate to comment.
